How will my diet after surgery?
Diet progress during the first year. It usually begins with 2-4 weeks of liquids and dietary protein slurry. The patients gradually progress to heavier foods and after two months can eat seafood, eggs, cheese and other regular food. The diet recommended in the beginning is usually low-calorie (500 per day), high protein (70gm per day), low-fat (30 gm per day) and low-carb (40 gm per day). Caloric intake increased during the first year and 12 months, many patients have reached their ideal weight and consume between 900 and 1500 calories per day. The daily calorie intake depends on the activity level, age and gender and that men can spend more calories and more calories.
